Narmada is the daughter of Har or Shiva Her name is Narmada. Narmada was born out of Shiv's sweat, she is Shivsutaa and Jatashankari,; she is Mekalsuta - the daughter of Mount Mekal where Amarkantak is situated, and she is Reva, the ever playful. She is believed to be the first river to manifest in this creation. She is immortal; the immortal sage Markandeya explains to Yudhishthir in Narmada Purana how he had seen Narmada survive various kalps - creations. One name of Narmada is 'immortal': Na-mruta tena narmada.
Narmada is fifth largest river in the Indian subcontinent. It forms the traditional boundary between North and South India. The source of the Narmada is Amarkantak and flows over 1,312 km through the Gulf of Cumby (Khambat) into the Arabian Sea. India's best hardwood forests are found in the Narmada River basin. The Tribes of Narmada Valley are the Bhil Tribes. Gonds and Baigas are the most significant tribes in the Mandla AREA.
The Narmada Valley is layered block of the Earth's crust that dropped down relative to the blocks on either side due to ancient spreading of the Earth's crust. Two normalfaults, known as the Narmada North fault and Narmada South fault, parallel to the river's course, and mark the boundary between the Narmada block and the Vindhya and Satpura blocks or Horsts which rose relative to the Narmada. The Chadoggya Upanishad (1.1.2). says that essence of all beings, is earth, and the essence of the earth is, water. Rivers are an important part of water cosmology.
They are worshipped as mother goddesses. Many rivers have been mentioned and worshipped in Rigveda (nadi stuti verse 5 and 6) carrying perennial waters. River banks have always been the cradles of civilization. Like any mother, a river too gives birth to civilization and nourishes it.
Mother Narmada is a spiritual and Wealth Heritage.
Mother Narmada is a spiritual and Wealth Heritage.
More than one-half of the world's major rivers are being seriously depleted and polluted, degrading and poisoning the surrounding ecosystems, thus threatening the health and livelihood of people who depend upon them for irrigation, drinking and industrial water. Lord Krishna says in Geeta every one has the duty to respect the right.
Environment friendly life is the duty of the time. Garbage segregation answer to a neat and beautiful nation. Give our children a clean world. They have the right for it. To keep Narmada clean is easy to clean a polluted River is difficult.

Although the Thug gee probably originated sometime in the sixteenth century. Its practitioners were trained from earliest childhood to murder by the quick, quiet method of a strong cloth noose tightened about the neck of their victims. This weapon, the "Rumal," was worn knotted about the waist of each member of the Thug gee. The strongest rule of the brotherhood was the one prohibiting the shedding of blood. According to Thug gee beliefs, the goddess Kali taught the fathers of thuggery to strangle with a noose and to kill without permitting the flow of blood. All victims of the Thug gee were sacrificed to Kali.

The first place to visit is shankaracharya cave. it is the place where Sankaracharya had met the sage Govind Bhagwatpadacharya and took his diksha. Under the guidance of Govindapada, Shankara mastered everything in Hatha, Raja and Jnana Yoga in only three years, after which he received initiation in the knowledge of Brahma. Shankara expanded his spiritual powers. The monsoons caused the river Narmada to rise threateningto flood the cave. Shankara placed a water pot at the entrance of the cave and this one pot miraculously drew all the floodwaters. In the ancient tradition of India such individuals have had a greater and more lasting impact on the population and culture than people of wealth or political power. Here he consolidated the doctrine of advaita vedānta. His knowledge of the Vedic texts and his dedication in unifying the spiritual beliefs of the nation has made him a legendary figure of India who is deservedly recognized as a reincarnation of the Lord Shiva. Go the steps up to the Nandi of Omkareshwar Temple prostrate yourself.
We turn back and start the parikrama our first place is Omkar Math. Omkarnath Ashram is dedicated to Sitaramdas Omkarnath Dev (1892 - 1982). He was a great Guru, mystic and Hindu religious figure. His life of total surrender to his Guru is indeed a unique example of exclusive devotion to one's Guru.
